Project Overview

Performance Communications was challenged to develop a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) for a new three-story VA Hospital clinic. The goal was to provide robust and reliable cellular signals for seamless communication across the hospital, meeting the distinct needs of healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors.

The Challenge

Hospitals, characterized by their expansive facilities, thick walls, and intricate layouts, present significant challenges for cellular signal reception, leading to dead and drop zones throughout the complex.

As the demand for cellular connectivity rises, new construction practices are significantly complicating signal penetration into buildings.  The increased insulation in walls and the use of low-E glass are proving to be formidable barriers to cellular signals, highlighting the need for a reliable solution.

The Performance Communications Process

Our team of experts planned and deployed over 4000 feet of coax cable in the ceilings and installing 35 distributed antennas throughout the building. The result has been robust cellular coverage throughout the building, meeting the unique needs of the hospital workers, first responders, patients, and visitors.
