Experience


Albert (Al) Hoover has extensive experience in leadership roles across the telecommunications industry, primarily focusing on planning, structuring, and executing strategic initiatives and transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, financings, partnerships, and investments. 


Al’s experience includes being Managing Director of Corporate Development at AT&T, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, and investments primarily in growth and expansion areas.


Before AT&T, he served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Sterling Commerce (acquired by AT&T for $3.9 billion), Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Sterling Software (acquired by Computer Associates for $4 billion), and as a corporate law associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and Hughes & Luce. 


Education


Al holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Highest Distinction) from Northwestern University, where he was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa Centennial Prize for Perfect Academic Average and the Frederick S. Deibler Award for Excellence in Economics. Al also holds a Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Texas Bar.
